overview
The studio explores small independent dwelling units that blend digital workspaces with a connection to nature, set in a remote landscape shaped by a future where virtual experiences drive daily life. As a group we designed ECHOES, living in the cave: a communal retreat inside a tidal sea cave where kitchen, bathing area and amphitheater are shared and almost everything is carved into the stone.
My cell is a room of three height-adjustable platforms, concealed from the cave by a curtain. The fabric is suspended from the cave ceiling and shaped by a substructure that consciously reflects the waves of the water below. Connected through boat cleats, pulleys and rope hoists, the platforms behave like a 3D puzzle: buoys let them float on the water at high tide, and when the tide flows out of the cave they settle towards the ground.
