The studio takes inspiration from the 1980 Venice Architecture Biennale’s La Strada Novissima, a groundbreaking exhibition that reimagined the street as both an urban catalyst and a stage for architectural discourse. Starting from the traced silhouette of a partner’s body in kneeling position, translated into a linear, planar and solid model and fused into a single form, the first-semester class assembled a collective street as a vision for the future city.

Spiracle offers an escape from the vibrant street: a cycling path winds its way up the poisonous-green-looking spiral, while terraces reached by elevator make it a place of relaxation for visitors of all ages. Despite the differences in tension between the spiral and the relaxing spaces, both serve as an escape from reality at different levels of speed.
